PROBLEM:
I installed Visual DataFlex 7, which I thought would automatically install Crystal Reports 8 on my development machine, but when i run the Crystal Reports sample reports, I get the error message "could not load DLL  - CRPE32.DLL not found". What's going on?

SOLUTION:
When installing VDF 7, you have a choice on installing it in evaluation mode or full development mode.  The screen that explains this choice tells you that if you install in development mode, the CRW 8 and Connectivity Kit (CK) report runtime files are *not* automatically installed.  Since you are installing for development use, and the VDF 7 development license includes CRW 8 and the CK, you are expected to install the licensed version of CRW 8 and the CK that are supplied.

Since the CRW 8 and CK components are not supplied with a VDF 7 evaluation license, the installation program installs the runtime files necessary to run the sample application reports..

So, if you install the development license and have not installed the CRW 8 and CK components, the sample reports wont run correctly.
